Seven Seeds

I always look forward to catch ups with T. A moment is never dull - she exudes passion and energy in everything she does. Her strength and get-up-and-go attitude constantly inspires and motivates me to keep challenging and bettering myself. Not only does she teach me about things about myself, but as a foodie herself - we always have so much fun going crazy over food.

And today, even with pulled pork sundaes temptations on mind, we were dead set on Seven Seeds. And so it was unanimous that Seven Seeds was our brunching destination.

Slow-cooked Pork Belly with Smokey Braised Lentils & Black Cabbage

The hefty portion of slow-cooked pork belly was sweet and ever so succulent. And who could forget the salty crunchy crackling that melted away instantly as I sunk my teeth in. The earthy and smokey edge of the braised lentils and black cabbage paired well with the pork, cutting through the richness perfectly. For brunch, I did find this meal a little too heavy a little too sickly, but pork belly. Enough said.

On a Sunday afternoon, the wait wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. For only 10 minutes did we stand around absorbing the buzzing atmosphere of the cafe hosting a cheerful crowd. Ordering was no fuss, and high quality food and drinks came out promptly - there was only one flaw I came across.  If only Seven Seeds was closer to home.

Nam Loong Seafood Restaurant

Happy Family Day! With my cousin in town, and with my knowledge of herlove for  crab, it was obvious we had to get our crab on. Although All People is our favourite go to for crab, we decided to dine somewhere in the CBD for convenience sake. Enter Nam Loong Seafood Restaurant.

Slow-cooked Pork Hock

Although it does not look appetising at all, this is a dish my dad absolutely adores. Meltingly soft pork that was so tender, it cut like butter . Drench said pork hock with accompanying sauce in a bowl of hot steaming rice and dad was all smiles.

Sautéed Snow Pea Shoots with Galric

An uncomplicated yet flavoursome dish of sautéed tender and crisp snow pea shoots with garlic. This has to be my all-time favorite green vegetable stir-fry dish and which I could have easily polished off by myself. But of course we shared - sharing is caring.

Black Pepper Beef

A simple dish of succulent pieces of beef coated in an amazingly thick black pepper glaze that rested  peacefully on a fresh lettuce cup. Pair this with bites of crunch, sweet snow peas and we're good to go.

Five Star Spice Chicken Spare Ribs

Five star spice chiken spare ribs - also known as the oriental edition of KFC.  Deliciously greasy deep fried chicken spare ribs tossed in moreish spice combination of five star salt, onion, garlic, chilli and spring onion. A fail-safe dish.

By the end of the night, everyone was stuffed. But, somehow we still managed to havt room for complementary red bean soup dessert. Nam Loong is the epitome of a Chinese restaurant - simple yet tasty dishes that are predicatbale and reliable. We stick to what we know and what we love here to the point that the menu becomes obsolete.

Burch & Purchese Sweet Studio

I had walked past Burch and Purchese Sweet Studio 5 times. 5 times before I set foot inside. Is there something wrong with me?

First thought after stepping inside was Willa Wonka - Willa Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. And at this stage, it felt like I had set foot into a modern cutesy play up of the movie. Pink ribbons, pink stickers, pink love hearts and everything pink popped up through the studio. The open kitchen out the back showcased where all the magic happens, and I was so tempted to run in and join them.

Green Tea, Pistachio, Cassis & White Chocolate

Pistachio frangipane, cassis jelly, green tea meringue, pistachio cream, vanilla & white chocolate mousse, cassis curd, chocolate velvet spray & green tea sponge. Yes - somehow all that sweet sweet goodness was jam packed into one little cake.

Burch & Purchese Sweet Studio is a little steep, a little pricey, however you really are in for a treat once you've made the call. I know next time I'm needing a sugar rush indulgence, I'll be back for the Chocolate, Mandarin and Salted Caramel Cake for sure.
