N2 Extreme Gelato

Born and raised in Sydney is N2 Extreme Gelato. All grown up, this quirky gelato parlour is now Fitzroy's newest coolest resident.

Here at N2, I had the chace to truly embrace my inner geek. Liquid Nitrogen, lab coats, word play and puns. Squeal ! With such incredible flavours filled with endless imagination, you are seriously spoilt for choice. For safer options choose the traditional-but-not-not-so-traditional Cookies and Cream or for the more adventurous, opt for the Black Lava Salted Caramel.  A little more daring ?  Have a lick of the Salty C***.

But for me? I could not resist the famous Crème Brûlée

Salty C***, Black Lava Salted Caramel,
Crème Brûlée & Lychee Ma Rose Sorbet

Made before our very eyes was my very own Crème Brûlée gelato. The first thing that hit me was the heavenly smell - before all the photo taking, the tasting, and the oo-ing & ahh-ing. Taste wise, the end product was extremely smooth and creamy. Topped off with a shiny caramelised coating, spoonfuls of this icy version tasted like magic.

The gelato here at N2 is definitely worth the trip - they take that extra step further and create a wacky fun experience for that cup of creamy goodness. With flavours changing every Thursday, I can see how it can become dangerously addicting.

Mocha Jo's

M is for mouthwatering and M is for Mocha Jo's. I reckon these two go hand in hand. Any regular to the area of Glen Waverley knows you can rely on Mocha Jo's for coffee and dessert. Even better, is that Mocha Jo's is open late every day of the week. A night owl myself, this is perfect.

Skinny Flat White

As always, I ordered a skinny flat white. Strong and bold, this drink paired nicely with my sticky date pudding. However,  it was sad to see no coffee art was existent.

1st Date,  Sticky Date

Wowee ! Imagine this. Mocha Jo's homemade classic sticky date pudding, topped with two generous orbs of vanilla bean ice cream, and smothered in butterscotch sauce. Enticing, isn't it ? Together, the chill of the fragrant vanilla ice cream and the warmth of the butterscotch sauce tickled my tastebuds. Rich, sweet and warming, this dish made the perfect date. This was the ultimate comfort food and I fell head over heels for it. There was even a cute little note at the bottom of the menu indicating that this was very very yummy.  Indeed it was.

Mango & Coconut Mousse

My friend ordered the mango and coconut mousse off the specials board and was presented with this little number.  Heavenly layers of light and airy mango and coconut mousse, finished off with toasted coconut and zest of lime. This was polished off in no time.

When night comes, Mocha Jo's is the perfect place to chill out over coffee and dessert. Service was warm, efficient and most importantly, they put up with our roars of laughter.  Not only was coffee and dessert delicious, my friends had further channeled their inner sweet tooth on the eye-candy. By the time we had reached the door to leave, they had already vowed to re-visit for dinner, to feast both their eyes and stomachs.

Yo-Chi

Having spent the night lazing around, and craving froyo, my friend and I headed down to Yo-Chi.

We could spot Yo-hi from a distance. The bright lights shone onto the dull street, illuminating the deliciousness that was awaiting us inside. Compared to all the other froyo joints I've been to, Yo-Chi was much larger than I had expected. I loved the design and layout, it was just such a chill place.

Yo-chi is a self serve, choose your own flavours and toppings, and pay by weight frozen yogurt kinda place. For 100 grams for $2.80 and with 8 frozen yogurt flavours, and over 30 toppings and sauces to choose from, things can get a little wild.

Our eyes bigger than our stomachs, we wanted everything. Luckily, the staff were happy to give us taste testers. Flavours ranged from Hazulnut, Green Apple to Honey Soybean. The Hazulnut was nice, however, I found it lacked that creaminess that I love in hazelnut ice cream. In the end, we went with the Original and Coconut flavours.

And finally, the end result !

For toppings, we went for fresh strawberries, mango popping pearls, stewed apples, crumble and boysenberry sauce. The original frozen yogurt was perfect- a little tart, a little sweet. Matching well, the coconut were spoonfuls of tropical paradise. Altogether with mango explosions and the likes of apple crumble, this was heaven. Weighing in at 303 grams, this champion came to $8.50.

So so good. The coconut froyo + crumble + stewed apples will definitely be my choice the next time I visit.

All natural, and 98% fat-free, what's not to love ? Having Yo-Chi with Yo-Best Friend was the perfect way to finish off the night.
